Wiener Schuhmuseum ¦ Vienna Shoe Museum
The Shoe Museum in the eighth district was established by the Shoe Maker’s Guild (der Schuhmacherzunft) of Vienna and opened in October 2002. The museum is dedicated to the history of shoe making. The exhibition includes Emperor Franz Joseph’s riding boots, antique shoe making and cobbler machines and tools, and of course shoes from different centuries from different continents. The museum also features entries from the annual Crazy Shoe Vienna competition.

This is fabulous — I actually had no idea there was a shoe museum — I will have to go visit. I have a terrible passion for shoes. (The pictures are great, too — love the use of photos on your blog.)
Lovely museum, a paradise for shoe fetishists! I would love to have half of the shoes in your pics. Btw, what is really missing in Vienna is a baroque fashion museum. With so much baroque heritage Vienna could easily take the lead on baroque clothing which regularly comes up in modern haute couture (see Vivienne Westwood,, Dolce & Gabbana and the likes).

Hi there! Funny you should say that, there is a sale at the Kostumhaus: http://www.facebook.com/events/535931109782048/?ref=2
I’ve been and bought one too many beautiful garments. There are some Baroque style costumes. Definitely worth a visit!
Cool, have heard about the sale but haven’t been there yet. I definitely need to go there, thanks for the tip!
